Riccardo Forno

Riccardo has a general corporate/commercial and securities law practice with an emphasis on corporate finance, private equity, stock exchange listings, initial public offerings, Capital Pool Company formations, qualifying transactions, and mergers and acquisitions.  Riccardo has acted for issuers (public and private) in a wide variety of transactions, and regularly advises clients on general corporate matters, corporate governance, continuous disclosure obligations, financing options, stock exchange and regulatory compliance matters.

In his corporate finance practice, Riccardo represents issuers and investors in a wide range of financing transactions, including IPOs, private placements, and other forms of debt and equity financing.  Riccardo’s corporate governance experience includes advising management and boards of directors on executive and board compensation, director and officer liability, and regulatory compliance matters.

Prior to joining Irwin Lowy LLP in 2011, he summered, articled and practiced with the Toronto office of Bennett Jones LLP from 2007-2011. As a student-at-law Riccardo was seconded to the Ontario Securities Commission.

Riccardo received his Bachelor of Laws in 2008 from the University of Ottawa. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business and Finance from The George Washington University in 2003 (Magna Cum Laude) where he attended as a 4-year student-athlete member of the Men’s Varsity Soccer Team.

Marcus Gillam

Marcus Gillam is the CEO of Gillam Group Inc., a progressive, relationship-based construction management organization located in Toronto that specializes in the delivery of medium-sized projects through collaborative delivery models in the industrial, commercial, institutional and residential sectors.  Gillam Group has a staff of 95 people and it delivers approximately $120 million annually.

Marcus developed a foundation in the industry while employed at Vanbots Construction, a business that was owned by his family.  There he occupied numerous positions including labourer, estimator, project manager, marketing director and vice president.  His experience encompasses leadership roles on many projects in the construction industry.  His work has also taken him to markets outside of Toronto including Vancouver BC, Swindon UK London UK and Dubai UAE.

In 2008 the Gillam family sold Vanbots Construction.  In 2011 he formed Gillam Group.

Marcus is a Professional Engineer (Queens University, Civil Engineering) and holds an MBA from the Rotterdam School of Management.  He is the recipient of a Toronto Construction Association “Best of the Best” award and the British Construction Industry Award (BCIA) for innovation in construction.

Marcus is married with 3 daughters.  He enjoys skiing, triathlons/running (completed Ironman Canada in 2012), private aviation cooking and travel.

Dr. Pradeep Merchant

Dr. Pradeep Merchant obtained his MBBS medical degree from the University of Bombay in 1984. He completed his pediatric training at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario in 1990 and joined the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto for a neonatology fellowship in 1990. He then joined the University of Ottawa’s Department of Pediatrics as an assistant professor in 1994. In 1997, he was appointed chief of the Division of Neonatology at what is now The Ottawa Hospital –Civic Campus and medical director of the Rich Little Special Care Nursery. In 2006, Dr. Merchant became chief of the Division of Neonatology for the amalgamated Ottawa Hospital and then chief of the Division of Neonatology at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). Currently, he is site chief of the Division of Neonatology at The Ottawa Hospital – Civic Campus. Dr. Merchant continues to participate actively at local, regional and provincial levels for the development of regional health care in Ottawa.

Matt Polci

Matt Polci serves as a Managing Director of the Debt & Equity Finance Group at Mission Capital where he is responsible for the origination, structuring, and placement of commercial real estate transactions on behalf of owners, investors, and developers nationwide. Prior to joining Mission Capital, Matt was a Director at Ackman-Ziff, which he joined in 2009. Prior to joining Ackman-Ziff, Matt was an Associate with Avison-Young in Toronto, Canada. Since his career in real estate capital markets began just ten years ago, Matt has closed more than $4.0 billion in debt, mezzanine and joint venture equity financing on behalf of clients.

Matt holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University, Canada (2007) and an M.S. in Real Estate Finance & Investment from New York University (2011) where Matt currently serves as an Adjunct Professor of Valuation and Real Estate Financial Analysis. Matt is an active member of NAIOP (New York Chapter) and currently serves as Co-Chair to the organization’s Student Affairs Committee where Matt regularly oversees and participates in speaking engagements at New York University, Columbia University, and Baruch College.

Mark Saddleton

Mark has held a wide variety of roles within the Sony Corporation throughout his 22-year tenure, progressing to his current dual title of Canada Country Head for Sony Electronics as well as Director of Sales, Imaging Solutions – Canada.

Mark joined Sony U.K. in 1997, working in Corporate Sales and later as Marketing Manager, focused on market and product strategy.

In 2001 Mark crossed the Atlantic to join the Canada office in Sales, steadily progressing to Director of National Accounts in 2011.

As part of business and talent development he opened the new Sony of Canada HQ office in 2018, building a culture and environment to drive growth

Mark is also President of the Sony Canada Charitable Foundation, supporting charities and leading the philosophy of Sony within the community
